I. What documents do children need to travel by plane?
1. For domestic flights:
a. What documents do infants need to travel by plane?
When taking an infant on a plane, parents need to provide a birth certificate, valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

b. What documents do children under 2 years old and under 12 years old need to travel by plane?
Children from 2 to under 12 years old need a birth certificate when traveling by plane. Parents should note that they should use the original or a copy extracted from the original book, not a notarized photocopy.
If the child does not have a birth certificate, they can use their personal passport or a passport shared with their parents/guardians instead.

c. What documents do children over 12 years old need to travel by plane?
Children from 12 to under 14 years old, although charged adult fare, can still use their birth certificate to check in for air travel
Children from 14 years old and above must present at least one of the following identification documents to be able to fly: citizen identification card/ID card, passport, driver's license, etc.
2. For international flights:
Children traveling on international flights must have a passport. Parents also need to prepare visas and other documents according to the country's entry regulations.
The child's passport can be separate or shared with the parents. Many countries require children to have their own passport to enter, so parents need to learn the regulations of the destination country.

II. Procedures for children when flying by airlines
1. Vietnam Airlines regulations
Vietnam Airlines does not accept the transport of children under 07 days old or children who must be kept in an incubator due to premature birth or health reasons.
For newborns from 1 week old or older, they must be in good health and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Each person is only allowed to travel with one child. If there are 2 or more children, parents need to buy additional air tickets and request a flight attendant to accompany them.
For children under 2 years old, they will not have their own seat, but must sit with an adult. Vietnam Airlines does not provide separate seats for children.
Children from 2 to 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. If the child is not accompanied by an adult, they need to register for the unaccompanied minor service.

Vietnam Airlines currently has many support services for children when flying, but parents need to book at least 24 hours in advance. The person accompanying the child must be over 18 years old and occupy the same seat class and flight.
Children aged 2 to 12 must always be accompanied by an adult. If there is no adult, they must register for the unaccompanied minor service or choose a flight attendant to accompany them.
2. Vietjet Air regulations

Children can sit on the adult's lap or buy a separate seat. When traveling, parents need to bring a health certificate if the child is premature or has an infectious disease.
Children aged 2 to 12 must fly with an adult over 18 years old. The guardian and the child must have the same booking code; otherwise, a certificate of accompanying is required. In addition to the air ticket, children need to bring a birth certificate or a notarized copy.
